"I always try to buy the most barebones laptop I can get. I hate soldered parts (no way to upgrade - just a waste of money). I tried HP, but they let me down and their support was horrendous. I have an HP laptop less than 1.5 years old with a bad keyboard and NO replacement part I or they could find.

So, I tried Clevo from R&J Tech - seemed like a better deal than other Clevo sellers.

I have had this laptop for 1 week. It is now all set up with everything (hardware/software) that I want.

Excellent build quality. Salesperson was very helpful.

I have only benchmarked it about 3 times. Below, I will compare the average result from the PassMark website with my result:

PassMark (overall rating) 12806 (96th percentile) onetime I got 97th percentile.

CPU: Average PassMark Intel I9-14900dHX = 45,680.
My Clevo = 47,181. (95th percentile)

Video: Average PassMark 3D Mark = 17,657.
My Clevo = 22,333. (85th percentile)

Average 2D Mark = 730.
My Clevo = 1252. (94th percentile)

My parts:

I added Memory and one NVMe drive (slots for two drives). My Memory benchmark was at the 63rd percentile. Probably because I added 96 GB and the latency was too high (what was I thinking). My Samsung 4TB drive earned a 99th percentile.

I never thought I would get a 96/97th percentile for my laptop overall.

Points to consider: In the directions, it says to use their power supply. I had another power supply that I thought should work in the Thunderbolt port. It did, it charged the battery, but there was not enough power to run the computer at full operating specs. It ran, but my benchmark was low - CPU not as fast, and Video reverted to Intell Iris. It took me a while to figure out what I had done. So, please use the power supply they give you. I know, it's ugly, but use it.

The two USB-A ports on the left side are 3.1 (one powered), as advertised. I would have liked to have two 3.2 gen 2 ports instead. I'm not sure why...there is one on the other side of the laptop along with a Thunderbolt port.

All in all, the numbers don't lie. I am EXTREMELY pleased with this Clevo laptop and R&J Tech.

I was somewhat reticent to try this brand, but I am so glad I did. I decided to pull the trigger, when I found out Clevo makes laptops for other brands. That is, other brands re-brand Clevo laptops. I found a few on the Egg (higher price). That greatly increased my confidence in Clevo. R&J Tech has, also, been great."
